Chapter 18 The Joy of Reunion, Emotions Heat Up

Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled patterns on the tree-lined paths of the campus. Shen Yichen and Lin Youran walked side by side along the path, their faces radiating youthful energy and their eyes sparkling with anticipation for the future.

This is their first day at university, and also a continuation of their youthful ten-year promise. From high school to university, they have gone through countless efforts and perseverance, and finally, at this moment, they stand on the same starting line.

"Yichen, what do you think university life will be like?" Lin Youran turned to look at Shen Yichen, her eyes sparkling with curiosity and anticipation.

Shen Yichen smiled slightly, his gaze gently falling on Lin Youran's face. "I think university life must be rich and colorful. We can join various clubs, make new friends, and learn a lot of new knowledge and skills."

Upon hearing this, Lin Youran's eyes flashed with excitement. "Really? That's great! I've always wanted to try new things, like joining a literary society or participating in some charity events."

Shen Yichen nodded in agreement. "Your idea is excellent, You Ran. University life is not just about studying, but also an opportunity to train and improve yourself. We can try all sorts of new things together and grow together."

The two walked and talked, and before they knew it, they had arrived at the school library. The library building was magnificent and its collection of books was rich and diverse. As soon as they entered, they were immediately attracted by the strong academic atmosphere.

"Wow, there are so many books here!" Lin Youran exclaimed, her eyes darting back and forth between the bookshelves as if searching for something.

Shen Yichen went straight to the literature section and picked out a few books he liked. "You Ran, what kind of books do you like to read?" he asked as he flipped through the book in his hand.

Lin Youran thought for a moment and said, "I like to read classic literary works, such as 'Dream of the Red Chamber' and 'Jane Eyre.' What about you?"

Shen Yichen smiled slightly and said, "I also like reading these books, but I also like reading some philosophy books, which can give me a lot to think about."

The two exchanged a smile, as if they had discovered a shared interest. They each found a quiet corner, sat down, and began to read. Time seemed to stand still at that moment, with only the sound of turning pages and pens scratching across paper.

In the afternoon, they attended the school's opening ceremony together. During the ceremony, the principal delivered a passionate speech, encouraging students to cherish their university years, study hard, and lay a solid foundation for their future development.

After the ceremony, they went to the school cafeteria together. The cafeteria was bustling with activity. They lined up, waiting to get their food. When it was their turn, Lin Youran looked at the various dishes on the menu, feeling somewhat overwhelmed.

"Yichen, what would you like to order?" She turned to look at Shen Yichen, her eyes filled with a hint of pleading.

Shen Yichen glanced at the menu and said, "Let's order some home-style dishes, like braised pork and stir-fried vegetables."

Lin Youran nodded in agreement. After getting their food, they found an empty table and sat down. The aroma of the food wafted over, making them very hungry.

"Yichen, do you think university life is the same as we imagined?" Lin Youran asked while eating.

Shen Yichen thought for a moment and said, "Actually, university life is a bit different from what we imagined. It has the freedom and richness we expect, but also some challenges and difficulties we didn't anticipate. However, I believe that as long as we work together, we will definitely be able to overcome these difficulties and realize our dreams."

Upon hearing this, a determined glint flashed in Lin Youran's eyes. "Yes, I also believe we can do it."

In the days that followed, they participated in various clubs and activities together. Lin Youran joined the literary club and began to try her hand at writing and editing; while Shen Yichen joined the debate club to hone her eloquence and critical thinking skills.

They lived busy and fulfilling lives every day, and their relationship grew closer. Whenever they had free time, they would go to the library to read books, take walks on the playground, and go to the food street to enjoy various delicacies.

However, as university life progresses, they gradually feel the pressure from their studies and daily life. Sometimes, they feel exhausted because of the heavy workload; sometimes, they feel lost and anxious because of the uncertainty of the future.

"Yichen, sometimes I'm really worried about our future." Lin Youran suddenly stopped and looked at Shen Yichen during a walk.

Shen Yichen held her hand and said gently, "You Ran, don't worry. We've come this far together, and I believe we can face the challenges of the future together. As long as we stay true to our original aspirations and hold firm to our beliefs, we will definitely be able to realize our dreams."

Hearing this, Lin Youran felt a surge of warmth in her heart. Looking into Shen Yichen's determined eyes, she seemed to see hope for the future. She grasped Shen Yichen's hand tightly and said, "Yes, I believe in you. Let's cheer each other on!"

In the days that followed, they studied diligently together and actively participated in various practical activities and competitions. Their grades improved steadily, and their abilities grew stronger. They began to stand out at school, becoming outstanding students in the eyes of their teachers and classmates.

However, they did not become complacent. They knew this was just the beginning of their journey to realize their dreams, and the road ahead was long. They needed to continue working hard and making progress to meet more challenges and opportunities.
