Chapter 138 138: Nothing Stays Between Four Walls
Chapter 138 138: Nothing Stays Between Four Walls
Lies written in ink cannot disguise facts written in blood.
Leon offered many things to the Emberlord.
All in return for something that shouldn't be given in the first place.
The Relic.
It was made from the Amnesty Cube.
The Amnesty Cube was a part of the Haloheart, the golden slab, that descended from a rift on Dwarkam.
Only the highest of people could have something made from the cube and one such person was the Emberlord.
Such a valuable thing wasn't allowed in just anyone's hands.
Yet, Leon asked for it.
Leon wanted to become the fourth Crown and for that the relic would help him a great deal.
And in return for that, he would help Coin.
The Emberlord had refused right away but the lust of becoming a Grand Pyre made him say:
"Write the promise you gave me in your blood right now."
Leon smiled.
The man in black suit smiled.
But Kairon and Varikh didn't.
They looked at each other and then at the Priest.
The flamekeeper was also shocked.
Kairon gritted his teeth, gathered courage and…
"Don't do it, sire."
Interrupted them.
Everyone looked at him.
Kairon gulped and bowed.
"He is asking for the relic in return for giving us Zane Atlas. There is no need for that. We can find him. We will find Zane Atlas, sire. I promise. I will find him, corner him and then call you to kill him. We don't need this man."
Coin left his chair.
"Do you know where he is right now?"
"Er.. Cameron forest. The Flamekeeper said it."
Coin laughed.
"He simply threw a stick at you. We will find nothing in that forest. He already knows we hate him and will do everything to stop him. That's why he deliberately mentioned Cameron forest because he knew how gullible you all are."
"What if it's true?" Kairon replied.
Coin sighed.
He looked at the Priest.
"He said he went to the forest to hunt for food, right?"
"Yes. Yes."
"Then it already means he was lying."
The priest frowned.
Coin rolled his eyes.
"Have any of you even seen that forest?"
All three of them shook their heads.
Coin wiped his brow.
"That forest has venomous snakes at every step. What appears as a ground there, is also a snake. A gutterborn going there and coming alive is impossible. He only awakened his skills yesterday. He probably doesn't even know what skills he has. If he had really gone to that forest to hunt, he would be the one to be hunted.
And let's say he went there, by sheer luck he survived and caught a snake. Still, there is no way to eat it without dying. There is no way to extract the poison from those mutated reptiles."
The Priest dropped his head.
Coin clicked his tongue.
"You lot couldn't even figure out his normal lie and yet, here you are, claiming to figure out where he is right now."
The Emberlord pointed at Leon.
"This man owns lands. Nearly all of them. And he has enough human capital to send someone in each owned land to see whether Zane Atlas is there or not in a few seconds."
"But, sire." Kairon didn't give up. "Zane Atlas is with thousands of people. If such a group roams around, it won't be hard to know where he is. If Leon has human capital, then we have Wardens roaming in the streets. We will find Zane Atlas without his help, sire. We can find Zane Atlas."
Coin raised his hand.
Kairon flinched.
His eyes went shut on their own.
But he opened them the next second as Coin's hand was on his shoulder.
Kairon was safe.
For now.
"You say you can find Zane Atlas. I agree." Coin nodded. "But can you give me a hundred acres of land in Solmire city? Can you give me one thousand Paper lumens per month? Can you make me a Grand Pyre, Enforcer?"
Kairon's eyes widened.
It's over.
The deal was already made.
"No. I cannot give you those things." Kairon replied truthfully and Coin let go of his shoulder.
"That's what I thought."
Coin turned around.
"Then I am taking my leave." Kairon said.
Coin looked over his shoulder and…
BOOM!
The air thickened.
"No one is leaving this room, Enforcer. Stay right there."
Kairon's throat went parched.
His knees weakened and he let go of any ideas he had about leaving the office.
He was an idiot to test his luck.
Seeing Kairon stop his movements, the Emberlord loosened the pressure.
The atmosphere turned normal again.
But what caught his eyes was the person in the black suit.
He didn't even flinch at the pressure that trembled two Enforcers.
The man Leon had with himself wasn't ordinary.
Nevertheless, Coin focused on Leon again.
"When I say I want it written in blood, I don't mean it literally. We will do Resonance Binding. About the promises you gave me. Saying no is not an option." He clarified.
Leon shrugged.
"Sure. But then you have to do the same for your promise as well, Emberlord."
Coin nodded. "I am aware of that."
"Then let us begin."
"Not yet."
The Emberlord spread his arms, closed his eyes and muttered under his breath.
Everyone waited and the next second, the whole office was covered with a thin white dome.
After that, Coin opened his eyes.
"Now it will stay between us."
Leon frowned.
"Don't you think you should have done this before we began speaking about the deal?"
"No. Our words won't be heard outside even without this shield. This is for our resonance to not alert anyone else from outside when we will be doing the binding."
Leon nodded with a smile.
He was an Emberlord for a reason.
Now that it was done, Leon took out a dagger from his Flame ring and swiped it on both of his palms.
The Emberlord did the same but with the nail of both of his index fingers.
Both men drew their blood and extended their hands.
Then they kept their palms on the palms of the person in front of them as their blood mixed in.
They both closed their eyes and exerted their resonance on their hands.
Both men remained silent as Leon waited for Coin to speak first.
And Coin did.
"I will give the relic to Leon Bronzer as soon as I get it."
Leon smiled.
"And after I get the relic, I will keep paying one thousand Paper Lumens to the Emberlord Coin Noir per month. I will also give him one hundred acres of land in Solmire city. And when my family becomes a Crown, I will make sure the Emberlord becomes a Grand Pyre as well."
They both finished their vows and their palms glowed in green.
Their tongues felt symbols embedding on them and then they vanished on their own.
After a few minutes, they opened their eyes.
"It's done." Coin said.
Leon nodded and let go of the Emberlord's hands.
"Now that this is over…" Leon stretched his arms.
"Diablo," Leon looked at the black coat man and grinned. "Fix loose ends."
Diablo smiled and turned towards the audience in the office.
Kairon, Varikh and the Priest, all of their eyes widened.
They knew what Leon meant.
All three of them looked at the Emberlord and the godman, he averted his eyes from them.
"Hail the flame, was it?"
Diablo mocked with no emotions on his face and…
TAP!
Tapped his foot on the ground. At the spot below Varikh.
And from that simple action…
SHRILL!
Flames arrived from that spot where Varikh stood.
Before the Enforcer could even move his finger, the flames formed into the shape of a mouth and gobbled the Enforcer whole.
From head to toe.
And as the flames ended, Varikh appeared different.
The strong and brave Enforcer Varikh, in front of everyone's eyes…
Reduced to dust.
