Chapter 1227 - 1266: Come In and Talk

Mabel Quinn, after a moment of silence, finally spoke, "Alright, I accept your apology, but I hope this doesn’t happen again. Even though we are still married in name, it doesn’t mean you can do this to me."

"This won’t happen again," he said.

"Then can you leave now? I want to rest," Mabel said.

"I..." he paused, then said, "I want to stay with you."

"So my wishes aren’t important to you, are they?" she said.

He was taken aback, and after a long pause, he smiled wryly and said, "Fine, I’ll leave, but if you need anything, you can always... call me."

Mabel pressed her lips together, saying nothing.

Kyle Kinston walked to the hospital room door, looked once more at the woman on the bed, and without saying anything, left.

Mabel lay on the hospital bed, letting out a long sigh. She was really so tired... feeling like she couldn’t catch her breath.

She made a call to Aunt Wu, telling her she’d be staying at the hospital overnight and would return home tomorrow, asking Aunt Wu to help take care of her daughter.

Aunt Wu readily agreed.

Mabel then spoke with her daughter for a good while, and hearing her daughter’s voice, Mabel felt a lot more at ease.

After finishing the call, she fell asleep again in a daze, and when she woke up, it was already midnight. Feeling hungry, she remembered that Kyle had come to her house this afternoon, and she hadn’t eaten anything.

So she pressed the nurse call button, initially wanting to ask if there were any open shops in the hospital at this hour, but the nurse asked her to wait a moment and soon brought over some porridge and vegetables, kept warm.

Mabel was surprised, "This..."

"Kyle prepared this. He said you’d probably be hungry if you woke up, so it’s been kept warm," the nurse said, evidently aware of Kyle Kinston’s identity.

The nurses on this floor had quite a discussion about it.

And this nurse was quite excited it happened to be her night shift, allowing her to see Kyle up close.

What surprised her was that from dusk till night, Kyle was just standing by the wall outside the hospital room, occasionally sitting, his head half-lowered, exuding an aura of coldness and solitude that made people hesitant to approach.

It was hard to imagine that the figure usually seen only in news and newspapers was now quietly standing outside this hospital room.

"Miss Quinn, Kyle has been outside for a long time," the nurse couldn’t help but say, "He’s still standing outside the room now."

Mabel was taken aback, not expecting Kyle... She sighed and said, "Then please let him come in."

The nurse hurried outside, and shortly after, Kyle came in.

"Thank you for preparing the dinner. It’s really late now, you should go back. I don’t need anyone to stay here overnight. If I need help, I’ll call the nurse with the button," Mabel said.

He stared at her, and after a moment, said, "Okay, I won’t disturb your rest. I will leave once you’ve finished eating."

Mabel said nothing, lowered her head, and started eating the porridge, while Kyle quietly watched her without saying a word.
