Chapter 73 Investigation
Chapter 73 Investigation
Sunlight streamed into the spacious and bright president's office through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Gu Chen walked into President Song's office with a relaxed pace, holding a mobile phone in his hand, with the photo that had caused heated discussion still on the screen.
Seeing his friend Mr. Song working on documents, he couldn't help but smile. "Hey, man, have you seen the news online? Your 'heroic' deeds made the headlines!"
Gu Chen deliberately emphasized the word "heroic" in his words, obviously bringing up this rather embarrassing incident in a light-hearted and humorous way.
He also knew that for Song Tiancheng, this matter might not be just simple gossip, but involved considerations of personal privacy and public image.
Putting down his phone, Gu Chen walked straight to his desk, smiling as he asked, "By the way, how are you going to handle this storm? After all, everyone knows that you always value confidentiality in your private affairs, and this situation seems a bit delicate."
As an old friend for many years, he also knew Song Tiancheng's character and understood that the other party did not like to show off, especially in the private sphere, which he was very secretive about.
Facing his friend's teasing, Song Tiancheng raised his head.
He put down the pen in his hand and leaned back in his chair, his eyes showing both helplessness and thought. "I know this matter has caused a lot of uproar, but to be honest, I didn't expect it to cause such a big reaction."
There was a solemnity in Song Tiancheng's words. It was obvious that this incident had exceeded his initial prediction.
"I have a hunch that there might be some other force behind this." At this point, Song Tiancheng's eyes flashed with a sharpness, clearly realizing the seriousness of the situation. He paused, looking at Gu Chen, his tone uncertain, "What do you think? Could it be a competitor or... someone else...?"
Gu Chen nodded and commented in agreement: "Your intuition is often accurate. The situation this time is indeed unusual." He stood up, walked to the window, and looked at the bustling city scene outside.
"I think the same as you. I've already sent people to investigate." Song Tiancheng responded, "Maybe Lin Yunzheng's wealthy family is too deep."

As for Huo Chenyuan, after finishing a day of meetings today, he returned to the hotel and changed his flight ticket. He decided not to attend the academic exchange meeting scheduled for the last day at North York Hospital in Toronto. He returned one day earlier than the hospital's expert group.
Sitting in the hotel, Huo Chenyuan dialed a number, "Regarding the photo incident, after arranging for you to investigate, have you made any new discoveries?" He asked straight to the point, his voice full of anxiety.
A calm reply came from the other end of the line: "We have found some information, and there are indeed signs that this incident is not a coincidence."
"What's going on?" Huo Chenyuan asked.
"Although there is no direct evidence pointing to your sister-in-law Ning Tingbei, we have discovered that several key individuals have had contact with her."
Shortly after hanging up the phone, Huo Chenyuan decided to call his sister-in-law to communicate with her and give her a warning so that she would be more restrained.
Huo Chenyuan tried to remain calm and said, "Sister-in-law, something happened recently, and I feel the need to talk to you. Do you know about the photo incident?"
A hint of surprise flashed across the sister-in-law's eyes, but was quickly replaced by calmness. "Of course I know, it's all over the news." Her tone was very flat.
"I have something I must clarify with you," Huo Chenyuan said straight to the point, "I don't think this photo incident is simple. Someone is behind this."
The sister-in-law's voice suddenly became innocent, "I don't understand, what are you talking about? I think Lin Yunzheng just can't stand being lonely." The sister-in-law's voice was full of sarcasm.
Hearing his sister-in-law's harsh words, Huo Chenyuan frowned and anger grew in his heart.
"How dare you say that about my wife?" His tone was low and stern. "I know Lin Yunzheng is a person of integrity and would never do anything treacherous. These remarks are completely unfounded and can only be regarded as malicious speculation."
"Don't you understand?" The sister-in-law's voice was full of disdain. "You are too naive to think that everyone is as pure and innocent as you imagine. The world is much more complicated than you see." She tried to influence Huo Chenyuan with her own views and make him waver.
But Huo Chenyuan did not give up his trust in Lin Yunzheng. On the contrary, he became more wary of his sister-in-law's attitude.
Huo Chenyuan clenched the phone tightly. The voice of his sister-in-law on the other end of the phone was like an icy blade, and every word pricked his nerves.
He suppressed his anger and spoke slowly, "I hope you will take my warning seriously and not try to stir up trouble, otherwise you will suffer the consequences."
The eldest sister-in-law didn't seem to be frightened by Huo Chenyuan's serious attitude. Her voice still maintained that seemingly innocent tone, "Oh, I didn't do anything. You are making me feel so wronged. I just think that as a family, we should pay attention to whether Lin Yunzheng's behavior meets our expectations."
Huo Chenyuan decisively interrupted his sister-in-law. "My wife, I know what's going on. No matter what you say, it won't change my opinion. If you continue like this, I will take measures to protect me and the people I love from harm. This is not a threat, it's just what I should do as a husband."
"Maybe," sister-in-law Ning Tingbei sneered, "but in my opinion, this matter is too strange. Why did your wife get involved? And it happened to be when you were abroad that she was held in the arms of someone else?" There was something in her words, as if she was hinting at something.
Huo Chenyuan was very angry when he heard the words "hold in his arms". He also knew that his sister-in-law was deliberately provoking him.
Huo Chenyuan keenly sensed the meaning behind his sister-in-law's words, and his doubts and vigilance grew simultaneously.
"No matter what, I will find out the truth and will not let innocent people be harmed. Of course, the mastermind behind this should also understand the consequences." He stated firmly.
In a five-star hotel at night, after the phone call, the room was silent, with only the soft wall lamp casting a warm glow.
Then, Huo Chenyuan heard a slight knock on the door.
When I opened the door, the person who came into view was Ning Tingnan. She was wearing an elegant blue dress, her long hair was gently tied up, and her plain face revealed a hint of gentleness.
Huo Chenyuan was slightly surprised by her appearance. "Ning Tingnan, it's so late, why are you coming to the hotel to see me? Is there something wrong?"
Ning Tingnan said softly, "I saw the news about you online, those pictures..." She paused, obviously hesitant, "I was afraid you would feel... so I came to see if you were okay."
Huo Chenyuan frowned slightly, obviously feeling uncomfortable with the topic. "Thank you for your kindness, but I already know." His voice was flat, with almost no emotion.
Feeling Huo Chenyuan's indifference, Ning Tingnan couldn't help but feel lost, but she tried to remain calm and said in a gentle voice: "I just wanted to see you. I know you've been through a lot recently, and I want to do something for you."
Huo Chenyuan's voice sounded a little distant, "Tingnan, do you have anything else to say?" Huo Chenyuan stood at the door and did not intend to invite Ning Tingnan into the room.
