Chapter 461 - 423: The Engagement
Chapter 461 - 423: The Engagement
Aurora Sinclair’s face flushed crimson, even redder than when she had seen the wedding dress earlier.
A smile spread across Alvin Morgan’s face. He raised his hands and cupped his fist to Ronan Warner. "Thank you, Apothecary Warner..."
Ronan Warner said flatly, "Kid, even though Flora agreed, the other two haven’t. Besides, since ancient times, marriage has its procedures. How can you get married without an engagement first?"
"Thank you for the reminder, Apothecary Warner."
After thanking him, Alvin Morgan immediately turned and ran off, looking as if he had some incredibly urgent matter to attend to.
"Morgan..."
Ronan Warner finally cracked a smile. "What a silly kid."
「The next morning.」
A grand procession of dozens of cars arrived at the foot of Sunstone Mountain.
The first few cars carried the Morgans, while the ones behind were filled with goods.
"Whoa... Did Morgan move his entire house here?"
Standing atop Sunstone Mountain, a shocked Leigh Miles nudged Aurora Sinclair beside her.
At that moment, Aurora Sinclair was blushing from her ears all the way down to her neck.
"Senior Sister, do you think Master will agree?"
More than ten minutes later, her master’s thunderous roar echoed from halfway up the mountain: "Morgan, you old fox! Those two conditions of mine didn’t include my disciple..."
Of the two conditions Cassius Morgan had demanded from Master Aerion back in Kingsford, he was cashing one in today.
"Agree to the marriage between my Alvin Morgan and Aurora Sinclair."

No matter how unwilling Master Aerion was, he had no choice but to let the Morgans come up Sunstone Mountain.
The ones who came to Sunstone Mountain this time were Cassius Morgan, his wife, and Yvonne Whitlock.
The others had wanted to come too, but fearing they would cause too great a commotion and attract unwanted attention, Cassius Morgan had them stay in Kingsford and await news.
As one of the lucky ones to come along, Beta Morgan was feeling absolutely fantastic. He could just imagine how resentful his Morgan brothers back in Kingsford must be.
"Beta, Madam is asking if you’ve prepared the red envelopes," Ray Morgan said, running over.
Beta Morgan immediately handed over the suitcase. "I got them from the bank yesterday afternoon. Crisp hundred-dollar bills, still in sequential order."
Ray Morgan was instantly exasperated. He knew what was inside without even looking, but still asked, clinging to a sliver of hope, "Did you guys put the money in red envelopes?"
"Do we have to? The master didn’t say anything about putting it in red envelopes..."
Ray Morgan took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to beat him senseless.
"Hurry up and go to town to buy some red envelopes!"
Watching from the summit, Leigh Miles snickered and couldn’t help but exclaim, "That’s our rich backer for you, so over the top..."
Aurora Sinclair bit her lip, then flicked Leigh on the forehead. "Take the red paper we have at home down to them..." she said awkwardly.
Leigh Miles froze for a second, then covered her mouth to hide a giggle before leaping lightly down the mountain.
When the villagers halfway up the mountain saw that someone had come to Daoist Miles’s home to propose a marriage, they all ran over to watch the spectacle.
Box after box of gifts nearly filled Master Aerion’s small courtyard. The rest, which couldn’t fit, were placed outside.
With a displeased expression, Master Aerion hid inside the house, letting Flora Guthrie and Ronan Warner act as the bride’s family elders and chat with the Morgans in the courtyard.
Seeing that the two families were about to finalize the engagement, Master Aerion grew anxious. He ran out and declared, "Dawn Miles has four masters! All of them have to agree for this to happen, and Mr. Stone hasn’t agreed yet!"
The words had barely left his mouth when Quentin Stone’s laughter came from outside the courtyard. "Who said I don’t agree? I agree..."
"Mr. Stone..."
"Alvin Morgan is already my Closed-door Disciple, so he’s not an outsider. As they say, keep the good stuff in the family."
Hearing this, Master Aerion’s face grew even darker. Seething with frustration, he sputtered, his beard trembling as he glared, "That’s not what you said before..."
Quentin Stone glanced over his shoulder at Alvin Morgan, who stood respectfully behind him, and replied with some satisfaction, "The Morgan boy does indeed have some talent for the teachings of the Myriad Machina Sect."
"That doesn’t mean..."
"Mr. Miles, either way, with this marriage, she isn’t marrying into an outside family, so..."
"Hmph..." Master Aerion snorted unhappily. With a sullen face, he clasped his hands behind his back and walked out of the courtyard.
’My good disciple, whom I raised through so much hardship, is suddenly about to be snatched away by some wretched brat. It’s just too infuriating.’
So, as he passed Alvin Morgan, he grabbed him by his clothes and shot away.
"Don’t follow me—"
"Master..."
Dean Morgan was about to give chase but was stopped by Quentin Stone, who placed a hand on his shoulder. "Don’t worry, my junior brother knows his limits."
Master Aerion took Alvin Morgan to a deserted mountain and said coldly, "Kid, if she weren’t the successor to the Martial God, I would have agreed to you two being together. But as things are now, Dawn Miles is destined to advance even further. With your meager lifespan of just over a hundred years, how can you be with her for the long haul? After you’re gone a century from now, what will Dawn Miles do? I know my disciple. Once she gives her heart, it’s for a lifetime..."
Alvin Morgan froze. This was, indeed, no small problem.
"Don’t be so selfish, kid..."
Master Aerion turned sideways to look at the distant Kaelan Mountains.
The two seemed to reach a stalemate over the topic, until Alvin Morgan said with determination, "Then I’ll just have to work hard enough to become a Martial God..."
"A Martial God? With your aptitude?" Although Master Aerion was moved by his words, his face still wore a cold sneer.
Alvin Morgan replied, "Aurora said that this Body Refining Boxing Technique can gradually change the body’s functions and Strength. Although it’s not as fast as the drugs researched by The Shadow, the foundation has already been laid. I believe that with long-term practice, it’s not impossible to train my Constitution to the Divine Level..."
"I’m just afraid you won’t live long enough to reach the Divine Level."
’If it were that easy to become a Martial God, wouldn’t everyone in the world be a Martial God?’
’Martial Cultivation is, by its very nature, an act of defying fate. How could becoming a Martial God be so easy?’
"Martial Uncle, besides Martial Cultivation, the power of future technology will also extend human lifespans. I can’t bear to leave her either. I want to be with her forever..."
Master Aerion was taken aback. He stared at him for a moment before replying, a bit unnaturally, "Kid, if you ever dare to bully her in the future, I’ll wipe out your entire family!"

And so, the engagement between Aurora Sinclair and Alvin Morgan was settled.
As for the actual wedding date, the two sides couldn’t agree. The Morgan Family wanted it to be as soon as possible, but the four from Sunstone Mountain felt that Aurora Sinclair was too young and there was no rush.
In the end, the wedding date was postponed. They would get married after Aurora Sinclair’s work at The International Penitentiary had stabilized.
「Kenton Airport—」
Leigh Miles hugged Aurora Sinclair, her face full of reluctance to part, and said in a muffled voice, "Senior Sister, when will I get to see you again?"
Aurora Sinclair thought for a moment. "When you have a break, you can come to the penitentiary to visit me."
Leigh Miles pouted and nuzzled her shoulder. "Senior Sister, I’ll miss you. You have to take good care of yourself there..."
"Mm..."
It should have been a sad parting, but Beta Morgan, who was standing nearby, couldn’t hold back a PFFT of laughter.
’These two are really something else,’ he thought. ’Talking like that in an airport... Haven’t they noticed all the strange looks they’re getting from the other passengers?’
Suddenly, Beta Morgan felt a pressure on his neck. He saw a girl—Leigh Miles’s cousin-niece, who had appeared out of nowhere—staring at him with a cold expression. She pursed her lips and forcefully yanked him to the side by his tie.
"M-Miss..."
"Shut up!"
Watching from the side, Dean Morgan’s throat tightened.
’This girl is really strong!’
