Chapter 37 Nothing Matters
Chapter 37 Nothing Matters
Joey heard the sound of helicopter rotors in the distance.
The Vought Company personnel arrived, fully armed, just as they had been when he first encountered them.
However, this time they weren't coming for her. Madeline Stillwell was issuing orders to the Red River security personnel on the armed helicopter through her earplugs.
They came here to completely annihilate the G-Force.
To be honest, Madeline didn't want to do this. Not only because G-Men is a multi-billion dollar franchise, but also because superheroes are supposed to be invulnerable.
The so-called "invulnerability of superheroes" is merely a propaganda proposition. Vought International needs to create such an impression in order to promote its strategy of weaponizing superheroes.
The truth is, almost all Vought superheroes in the world are not immune to bullets; if a bullet can't penetrate it, it's simply because the caliber isn't large enough.
Or perhaps the wrong ammunition was used.
Some specially designed warheads are lethal against Compound V products, and the entire Red River Security team was equipped with these munitions.
Faced with these guns and cannons, these disorganized and undisciplined superpowered individuals are no different from ordinary people; killing them all would be no more difficult than slaughtering an entire circus.
Five helicopters split up and surrounded the manor, waiting for Madeline's order to turn the entire manor into a killing field.
At this moment, Madeline was not only monitoring the on-site operations, but also paving the way for the subsequent cleanup. Sitting in front of her were Ashley and two planners from the film and television department, who were discussing how to minimize the losses.
"How's Kevin Feige?" Ashley tapped her notebook with her pen.
"He did a great job with 'G-Men: World War,' so let him continue. By the way, who's the most popular character in G-Men again?"
Madeline nodded in agreement:
"I remember it was Earth Eagle. Perfect, let's continue with him as the main character in a movie called 'G-Men: Twilight Eagle's Homecoming' so that this IP can exit properly."
"Actors? CGI or live actors?" the head of the film and television department asked. "Hoping that Earth Eagle will play Earth Eagle himself is probably out of the question."
Although the conflict between Superman and the G-Men was unexpected, regardless of the outcome, Red River Security will complete its mission, and the destruction of the G-Men is a foregone conclusion.
Madeline sincerely hoped that Superman could emerge unscathed from this conflict, firstly because, from the company's perspective, Vought International's assets couldn't withstand such turmoil.
The shelving of G-Men will cause a sharp drop in Vought's revenue, and the stock price will certainly not be optimistic. It's fine if shareholders with inside information are willing to short sell and cash out in advance, but small shareholders will obviously be unhappy.
Secondly, from a personal perspective, Madeline does indeed hope that someone can completely replace Homelander, just like Homelander replaced Soldier Boy before, and as soon as possible!
The Homelander's morbid infatuation with him is of almost no benefit to him now. And if what he has been hiding from him is discovered, he will face devastating consequences.
Based on current observations, Superman is at least much more gentle than Homelander.
"Ms. Steelville, this situation is somewhat unexpected."
The feedback from Honghe Security was also completely unexpected for Madeleine.
The G-Men's manor courtyard was filled with severed limbs and headless corpses, a scene so gruesome that even the well-informed Red River mercenaries were astonished.
The mercenaries reported that Superman had appeared on the scene, accompanied by several children, presumably another new generation of supplies recruited by Godotkin.
"No firing without my order! Camera pans to..."
Madeline was about to ask a few more questions when Joey's voice came through her earpiece:
"Madeline, you idiot! Do you know what the consequences of your decision to send Laurie to the G-Men are?!"
Joey ignored the warnings from the Red River Security mercenaries and flew directly into the cabin, reaching out to snatch the communicator.
Madeline now only wanted to retract her earlier thoughts; she had already reduced Superman's threat level in her mind to the same level as Homelander.
When I assigned Laurie to the G-Men, I didn't realize she had this connection with Superman; she just happened to have a suitable one on hand.
Ultimately, the key figure is that agent; she can create obstacles for John Godotkin within the G-Men and leverage Vought's influence. Any superhero can be paired with that agent; he simply chose the youngest and easiest to fool.
I just didn't expect that the G-Men, who not only disrespect the law, would also disrespect Vought Corporation!
"This was an accident; I didn't know beforehand..."
Before Madeline could explain, the communicator went dead, and just as she was stunned, there was a knock on the window outside her office.
Joey opened the locked panoramic window and floated into the office:
"Go ahead, I'm listening."
Madeline explained the whole story in detail, while Joey kept his eyes fixed on her chest until she finished her explanation.
While people's physiological reactions to fear, lying, and anger are similar, there are still subtle differences. At this moment, Madeline's physical reaction was exactly the same as that of Ashley and the other two present; they were all afraid.
Madeline is either a very good liar or she tells the truth.
But none of that matters anymore.
Joey chose to leave.
He could have killed her, Ashley, and the others on the spot, then the rest of the Seven, then Stan Edgar, and everyone connected to Waterta.
Next come the disobedient superhumans, the ordinary people who rebel against themselves, and all the Earth's administrative bodies that rebel against themselves.
In this process, only 42% of innocent people will be affected.
But none of that matters.
Joey looked into the distance and saw Laurie slowly waking up. A woman in a suit was handing her a pineapple pizza. He recognized her by the badge on her waist—Susan Lena, CIA Deputy Director.
Anything involving Langley is never good.
But none of that matters.
Joey pulled a watch from his pocket; it was one he had borrowed from Deadpool.
From Deadpool's good buddy Cable, a legitimate time watch.
It's not used to display time, but to travel through time.
Almost instantly, Joey figured out how to use and how to construct the gadget, and he couldn't help but marvel at the amazing ingenuity of Cable, an Omega-level mutant.
The cable confines a portion of Omega-level power within the watch, cleverly carving out a closed timelike curve that makes time travel possible for the user.
Even geniuses like Lex Luthor or Viktor von Doom might not be able to create such exquisite objects.
Joey started this thing; he didn't care about the grandmother paradox or Novikov's principle of self-consistency. He just wanted to reshape a world that suited his own desires.
A world where everyone has their own family.

Far away on the other side of the world, ravens in the foothills of the Himalayas sensed the fluctuations in space and time and exclaimed softly, "My God..."
She had just used the blood of the yak, which she had found on the spot, to inscribe the last magic circle, outlining the first line of defense against the Three Palaces.
But none of that matters anymore.
