Chapter 60: Jason Captured!

Things had taken a rather drastic turn, from a peaceful group to reveal a wolf in sheep’s clothing, one would think karma existed with what transpired but Jason’s life was now in danger.

He was the one that suffered the consequence of this action.

Sam and Clementine instructed Rachel to watch over the kids as they trailed Jason’s path.

There was no way that his boots didn’t leave a trail and that was what they used to their advantage.

They arrived there in little to no time, Sam noticed that there were multiple footprints but after that, they disappeared. Whoever came along knew how to cover their tracks.

The fact that he left these other footprints here told Sam that this was a message to show them that Bella wasn’t alone.

Was this an intimidation tactic to make them give up chasing?

"I have never met a man so stupid... What is wrong with Jason?" Sam questioned and they knew Jaosn was there because there was a piece of clothing right there that was clearly worn by him.

"The good news is that he is alive or it would have been his body we see here," Clementine said but Sam shook his head.

"Or he could have simply joined the undead for the everlasting cravings for brains," Sam joked but now wasn’t the time to be making such jokes because Jason was just taken.

"Stop it, Sam," Clementine said as Sam turned around to head back to the motel.

"He was a liability and you know it. You’re getting soft Clementine," Sam said before continuing on his walk.

"The change is in you, Sam. You have lost your humanity," Clementine responded but Sam simply chuckled as he stopped in place the moment he heard this.

"Maybe Clementine, maybe. But I have to say, I like this new world." Sam responded while continuing on his way.

Clementine clenched her fist in anger because she didn’t know how the others would take it.

Rachel seemed like she was friends with Jason and she didn’t know what to tell her considering she had lost two of her friends in a day.

Clementine picked up the piece of cloth and walked back to the motel a few dozen meters behind Sam.

It didn’t take long for both of them to arrive and they went to see Rachel and Lillian.

They knew they had to deliver the news to them but Clementine didn’t know how to tell them.

"Where’s Jason?" Rachel asked and Clementine looked away but before she could respond, Sam chipped in.

"Jason has been taken by Bella or even better, dead..." Sam said bluntly.

"What the fuck do you mean that dipshit was taken!?" Lillian barked at them and Lillian wasn’t the only one that was unnerved by this news.

"Pipe down kid, I’m not the one that killed him..." Sam responded.

"That is enough Sam, we don’t know if he is dead or alive but there is a very good chance that he was taken alive. I don’t know why the enemy would bother but the fact that they did mean only one thing, and that was he could be useful to them in some way." Clementine gave a level-headed assessment.

"Yeah, what she said so should we go save him or...?" Sam questioned as he sat on the floor to eat.

Sam was glad that Jason was taken because now, they had a reason to go to the camp.

Sam grinned because he realized that things would fall into place.

This was in their favor and Sam had every intention of using this to his advantage.

"We have to save him! We have to!" Lillian said; Rachel shared her sister’s feelings because she knew that Jason would do the same for her if he was in their shoes.

"Then it is decided..." Sam said with a smirk, this was what he wanted from the get-go.

He knew it would be a challenge but he has rescued hostages before so he wasn’t inexperienced in this field.

"I’m afraid it is..." Clementine said with a worried look on her face.

"We’re going to war..." Sam said but the ladies all looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"The fuck, we’re just going to rescue Jason!" Lillian said.

"Haha! I’m just joking! I got carried away kid," Sam said and Lillian rolled her eyes in irritation but something told Clementine that these weren’t just words from Sam.

"Did you have to bring him?" Bella asked Alex, who had her hands bound.

"I did, we need to know more about these people and something tells me this man played a role in Max and John’s death," Alex said and Bella widened in shock.

She was speechless because while these two were not even among the strongest fighters in the camp, they were stronger than Jason no doubt.

There was no way that Jason was involved but she understood why Alex assumed he was, it was because of his size.

He had an intimidating size that anyone would assume he was a threat but he was anything but that. Jason was knocked out cold and over Alex\s shoulder, showing just how strong Alex was himself.

"I guess you have a point but you could have just asked me," Bella said.

"You lie at a subconscious level Bella, sometimes I do not even think you know what the word truth is," Alex said and Bella kissed her teeth the moment she heard this.

"Fuck you..." Bella said and the moment she said this, a resounding smack echoed, Alex slapped her and the force was enough to drop her to the ground.

Alex proceeded to drop Jason from his shoulder and climbed on top of Bella with his hands around her neck but his other hand had grabbed his gun and had it pressed against her temple.

"The only thing stopping me from killing you right now is him but that doesn’t mean I can’t hurt you..." Alex warned but Bella spat right in his face.

"You know why you cannot touch me, Alex..." Bella said with a cocky smile.

Alex took a deep breath before letting her go, this was the last thing he needed.

He looked over his shoulder and saw that the fall had woken Jason up.

"Good, you can walk now," Alex said.
