Once you have it, you may set off, but you must return within two months and hand your Recording Jade back to me. Ye Tianfan then saw five people emerge from the crowd and approach Elder Wu Ming after he read their names.

Ye Tianfan watched team after team approach Elder Wu Ming.

Ye Tianfan also glanced at Yun Tian Senior Brother and Bai Feng still standing beside him. Ye Tianfan thought that perhaps the Taichu Sect Leader would place him in a group with Yun Tian and the others since they were familiar with each other and had trained together before.

However, Ye Tianfan soon saw Yun Tian was assigned elsewhere. Although Ye Tianfan felt some comfort knowing Bai Feng was still there; perhaps Yun Tian's strength was similar to his own, so he was chosen to lead a team. But with Bai Feng around, at least there was someone to talk to, and it wouldn't be too awkward.

Soon after, Ye Tianfan watched Bai Feng get assigned to another team. Yet, Ye Tianfan considered some familiar Taichu Sect disciples, thinking maybe the Sect Leader wanted him to lead these juniors. Bai Feng was strong and had plenty of Magical Treasures, so he could be more effective in other groups.

Thinking this way, Ye Tianfan didn't mind. After all, leading those juniors wasn't a big deal since they were somewhat familiar.

Soon, Ye Tianfan witnessed those Taichu Sect juniors getting picked one by one.

Ye Tianfan thought he'd have to complete the task with unfamiliar juniors and assured himself it was fine, he'd get used to it.

Then Ye Tianfan watched as individual after individual got called out one after another until he was the only one left in the plaza.

"The two thousand seven hundredth group, Ye Tianfan of Taichu Sect," Elder Wu Ming announced hoarsely, reading the last name.

Having been calling names all day, Elder Wu Ming's mouth was dry and in desperate need of water, but there were still so many people, so he couldn't afford to stop for it.

Although Elder Wu Ming didn't know why Ye Tianfan was on a team by himself, he just wanted Ye Tianfan to hurry up and get his Recording Jade so he could step down and get water.

Ye Tianfan was stunned; his mind was confused. What was going on? Why was he alone without any teammates? How was he supposed to complete the mission?

Ye Tianfan blankly stared at Elder Wu Ming, neither speaking nor stepping forward.

Seeing Ye Tianfan fixated in place, Elder Wu Ming was also puzzled but assumed Ye Tianfan hadn't heard clearly. So, he called again, "The two thousand seven hundredth group, Ye Tianfan of Taichu Sect."

Hearing his name again, Ye Tianfan finally snapped out of it.

Ye Tianfan looked at Elder Wu Ming and pointed to himself, "Just me?"

"It seems so. The Recording Jade indicates it," Elder Wu Ming replied, somewhat unsure, as all other teams had five members, yet Ye Tianfan was alone, perhaps due to an error in the Recording Jade?

Just as Elder Wu Ming thought to inquire the Taichu Sect Leader and other Leaders, the Sect Leader emerged from the side and took the Recording Jade from Elder Wu Ming, saying, "Let me explain to Nephew Tianfan, you go drink water. You look very thirsty now."

Hearing this, Elder Wu Ming quickly nodded and stepped aside to have a drink.

"Here, Nephew Tianfan, take your Recording Jade," the Taichu Sect Leader handed Ye Tianfan the jade.

"Sect Leader Uncle, was there a mistake? It's supposed to be five in a group, and I am alone," Ye Tianfan asked, puzzled, after taking the Recording Jade.

"No mistake," the Taichu Sect Leader chuckled in response.

Hearing this, Ye Tianfan was even more confused, "Then why is everyone else in groups of five while I'm alone?"

"That's because others need five to form a balanced team—scouting, medical, combat, strategy, defense," the Taichu Sect Leader explained. "But you alone already have these five skills. Moreover, the base you're entering has special circumstances; adding others would only increase their mortality rate."
