Chapter 94
Chapter 94
Red Love Pavilion.
Nalan Jingwen attracted everyone's attention as soon as she appeared, simply because she brought two men with her.
Jingchi followed Nalan Jingwen expressionlessly, like a statue, remaining unfazed even as so many people came and went.
Nalan Yin stood beside Nalan Jingwen, head down, seemingly lost in thought, her expression unreadable.
"Oh my, isn't this Your Highness? It's been so long since you last visited! Chunhe and the others have been missing you terribly!"
The madam received news of Nalan Jingwen's arrival the moment she appeared, and rushed downstairs with a fawning expression. Just as he was about to approach her, he was blocked by two men on his left and right.
He took two steps back, looking somewhat embarrassed, and sized up the two men. Both were stunningly handsome. The one on the left looked down at him with no expression, cold and aloof.
The man on the right had a smile on his lips, but that smile was eerie no matter how you looked at it. The way he stared at him was like staring at a dead man, making him involuntarily shiver.
"Why are you getting so close when you're just talking?"
The madam looked to Nalan Jingwen behind her for help, and the latter pulled the two apart, saying, "Don't be afraid, they mean no harm."
Although the madam didn't believe it, she nodded and forced a smile, saying awkwardly, "The private room is still reserved for the prince. Is it the usual?"
Nalan Jingwen nodded and was led upstairs by a servant.
Although bringing a man to visit the Dream of the Red Chamber was an unheard-of thing, the man was Nalan Jingwen, and no one dared to go up and offend him. No matter how unreasonable it was, no one dared to say anything.
The madam suppressed his fear, and a servant whispered something in his ear. His expression changed slightly: "What did the master say?"
"Assess the other party's sincerity."
"Understood, let's go down."
As soon as Nalan Jingwen entered the private room, servants filed in, followed by two men, one in red and one in green.
The two men's eyes lit up the moment they saw Nalan Jingwen. "Your Highness, you've finally come to see us! We thought you'd forgotten about the old one after finding someone new."
As they were talking, they were about to pounce on Nalan Jingwen when a long sword was drawn and placed in front of them. The two men slammed on the brakes, narrowly avoiding losing their heads.
Nalan Yin, who was sitting to the side, burst out laughing. Her eyes crinkled with laughter, and for a moment, everyone stared at her in disbelief.
Nalan Jingwen put down his teacup, making a crisp sound that brought the two of them back to their senses.
Chunhe and Huayue glared at the pool of mirrors, looking at Nalan Jingwen with pitiful expressions, as if tears were about to fall at any moment.
Nalan Yin glanced at the two of them, then turned to Nalan Jingwen and said, "You like this kind? It's beautiful, but it's too vulgar. Your taste isn't very good either; it's not even as good as your guards."
"you!"
Chunhe Huayue was humiliated in front of everyone, but dared not vent her anger in front of Nalan Jingwen, and was on the verge of tears.
Nalan Jingwen glanced at him but said nothing. He simply said to Jingchi, "Step down."
Jingchi pursed his lips slightly, paused for a moment, and finally withdrew his sword and retreated behind him.
Seeing that there was no obstruction, the two stepped forward and stood on either side of Nalan Jingwen. Having been in this brothel for so long, they were already shrewd and could easily see Nalan Yin's special qualities. So even though they were angry, they didn't say anything.
Nalan Yin looked at their intimate behavior with a hint of malice in her eyes. Ignoring the strange feeling in her heart, she said sarcastically, "You said you brought me out so I could watch your live sex show?"
He originally thought that Nalan Jingwen took him out of the palace to relax, but who knew that he would take him to a brothel? What woman would bring two men with her when she goes to a brothel?
Chunhe Huayue felt as if she were being stared at by a venomous snake; goosebumps rose on her back, and her body began to stiffen.
Nalan Jing felt uncomfortable from the smell of cosmetics and pushed the person away.
"I don't need you to serve me here. Play me a tune."
Chunhe and Huayue were both skilled musicians, and many people were willing to spend a fortune to hear them play together. However, their pieces had already been booked by the original owner of the house, so they could only play for Nalan Jingwen.
After the two stepped back, they felt relieved that the gazes that had been staring at them had disappeared. They quickly went behind the screen and began to play.
"Your Highness, that is Duan Yu."
Jingchi whispered in her ear.
Nalan Jingwen looked in that direction and saw an ordinary-looking woman with no memorable features walk to the door of a private room. She looked around, raised her hand and knocked on the door. The door was quickly opened, and after she went in, it was quickly closed again.
"Did you deliver the letter I asked you to?"
"It has been handed over to General Pei."
Nalan Jingwen nodded, closed her eyes to amplify her senses, intending to listen to what they were plotting. However, after listening for a long time, there was no sound from the other side, which made her frown and open her eyes again.
Nalan Yin suddenly sat down next to her and asked, "Do you know who's in the opposite compartment?"
Nalan Jingwen glanced at him. "You know?"
Nalan Yin simply gave a strange smile. "I don't know."
He paused and then said:
"But if you want to know anything, you can try bidding for the courtesan at the highest price."
Nalan Jingwen then turned to look at him directly, "What do you mean?"
Nalan Yin kept her mouth shut and remained silent, watching the noisy crowd below, not intending to answer her question.
The original owner had spent lavishly to bid for the most beautiful courtesan before, but nothing seemed different then. Was it because she was too uninformed?
Seeing his indifferent expression, Nalan Jingwen raised her hand and forcibly turned his face towards her, making him face to face with her.
"Tell me, what exactly do you mean?"
"You hurt me."
Nalan Jingwen was startled and let go of his hand; a bright red mark had already appeared on his fair face.
But she quickly realized, "You're afraid of pain?"
Nalan Yin said calmly, "Sometimes, when there is nothing you can do, you can only endure the pain even if you are afraid of it."
He wasn't born immune to pain; he was just more tolerant than others. Only through endurance could he survive.
Nalan Jingwen recalled the scene when she first met him, as well as the scene at Jing'an Palace just now, and fell silent.
"Feel sorry."
Nalan Yin scoffed, "I was just kidding, and you actually believed me."
Nalan Jingwen simply stared at him without speaking, his dark, deep eyes seeming to see right through him. He looked away in a fluster and changed the subject, "Didn't you want to ask me what I meant?"
"I'm hungry."
Nalan Jingwen placed the pastries on the table in front of him.
"Eat."
I don't want to get my hands dirty.
Nalan Jingwen sighed and picked up a piece of pastry, placing it near his mouth. He opened his mouth and took a bite, his eyes narrowing as if he were eating some rare delicacy, when in reality it was just an ordinary pastry.
Using Nalan Jingwen's hand, he finished the entire plate of pastries. He glanced at the empty plate, took the handkerchief handed to him by Jingchi, and wiped his hands.
